
Call for Villages – BSides Sydney 2025
Villages are the heart of BSides: hands-on spaces where the community experiments, teaches, and learns by doing. We’re inviting new and returning village leads for 2025.
Suggested themes (not limited to):

GRC & Risk – governance, compliance, audit, frameworks (ISO/NIST/Essential Eight).

Hardware Hacking – IoT, radios, re/teardowns, soldering benches.
-
Lock-Picking – physical security, locksport (legal + safe).
-
AI & Security – adversarial ML, LLM red-teaming, model evals.
-
Cloud & Identity – IAM labs, misconfig playgrounds, cloud attack/defense.
-
Open Source & Community – project clinics, meetups, mentoring corners.
-
Blue Team / DFIR – hunt labs, log puzzles, detection engineering.

Privacy & Safety – threat modeling for individuals and orgs.
What We Provide

Dedicated floor space at the venue

Tables, chairs, power, and basic AV as needed

Engaging demos/workshops (beginner-friendly is a plus)

Setup/pack-down timing (and any freight details)

Any costs to attendees (if consumables/kits are sold)
Important Dates

Venue: Cyber Range Training Centre (CRTC), TAFE Meadowbank, See Street, NSW 2114
Safety & Policies (Summary)
-
Lock-picking: only locks you own or have explicit permission to pick; no live-site/venue locks.
-
Soldering/heat tools: bring mats/fume control; follow venue fire safety rules.
-
RF/Radio: comply with local spectrum rules; low-power demos only.
-
Chemicals/Li-ion: pre-approval required; MSDS on hand if applicable.
-
General: no harmful payloads against attendee devices or venue infrastructure; keep demos consent-based and scoped.
(We’ll send full guidelines to accepted villages.)
